Every year the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences honour the best films that have been released to the world of cinema. The Oscars are without a doubt the pinnacle of film awards and over the years it has seen a number of worthy winners who have picked up a whole heap of awards on the magical evening which, as a result, have granted them with classical film status.

In order to recognise these films that have made history at the Academy Awards, we have come up with the top 15 films that have the highest number of Oscars in the history of the Academy Awards. Each film in the list gained at least 8 awards and the time span of the films ranges from all the way back to 1939 and stretches to 2008.
