Sadako

'Sadako' is the first return of Japanese director Hideo Nakata ('Dark Water', 'The Ring') to the world of 'Ringu' in over a decade. The film follows Mayu Akikawa (Elaiza Ikeda, 'Isle of Dogs', 'Room Laundering'), a psychologist whose latest patient is a neglected child (Himeka Himejima) who refuses to share her name. Whilst Mayu endeavours to understand the young girl, her brother Kazuma (Hiroya Shimizu, 'The Outsider', 'The World of Kanako') is gaining fame on the internet through his video blog. For one of his videos, Kazuma goes to a burned and abandoned apartment building, the former home of Mayu's patient, and tells his viewers all about it's haunted past. Shortly after making the video, however, Kazuma disappears and Mayu begins to wonder about the mysterious connections between this girl and her brother's sinister fate.

'Sadako' is a J-horror film directed by Hideo Nakata. The screenplay is written by Noriaki Sugihara ('Nisekoi', 'Uma no Hone'), based on the novel by Kôji Suzuki ('Masters of Horror', 'Dark Water'). Also starring are Ren Kiriyama ('Code Name Mirage', 'Kore wa Keihi de Ochimasen'), Rie Tomosaka ('A Life Turned Upside Down: My Dad's an Alcoholic', 'Innocent Days') and Takashi Tsukamoto ('Battle Royale', 'Midnight Sun')
