It's the Dark Knight's birthday! Warner and DC will celebrate a very important Batman Day this year and are preparing a number of events to mark the 80th anniversary of the character in 2019. In light of this, on the 21st September fans will be able to enjoy various special events, including the sight of the Bat-Signal lighting up the world.

Beginning in Melbourne and finishing in Los Angeles, the Bat-Signal will be seen across various cities on the 21st September. It will be projected onto buildings at 8pm, local time. The famous bat symbol will also pass through Tokyo, Paris, Mexico City, São Paulo and Barcelona, amongst others. On the DC Comics webpage, you can track the Bat-Signal across the world. In the UK's case, the signal will illuminate the Senate Building in London.

The Dark Knight has been roaming the streets of Gotham for 80 years

In the words of the President of Global Brands and Experiences, "The Bat-Signal is one of the most recognisable images within superhero iconography and this will be an incredible sight as we traverse borders, languages and cultures to unite everybody under this singular experience".

Other events of Batman Day can be enjoyed especially in the United States. This includes a meet and greet with Scott Snyder, Peter J. Tomasi, Brad Walker and James Tynion IV in New York and a nighttime race in Los Angeles.

More Batman

After the celebrations prepared by DC and Warner Bros, we'll still have enough time to watch the Dark Knight return to the big screen. It will happen on 21st June 2021 with Matt Reeves at the helm and Robert Pattinson behind the mask. At this stage, no more concrete information is known, although it is thought that the film will focus on a younger version of the character and his detective days. Reeves continues to search for more names to join the cast amongst rumours of Eddie Redmayne for the role of Enigma.
