Christmas is a busy, (often) stressful, and (always) expensive time for everyone and sometimes it can seem hard to find a way for the whole family to relax and spend time together in a way that everyone can enjoy. After watching the 500th rendition of 'Elf', 'Home Alone', or 'Miracle on 34th Street', sometimes the only thing for it is to bite the bullet and brace the cold for a family day out to the cinema to see an exciting new release that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Sometimes the two-weeks of school holidays can become a little overwhelming, but with this list of top releases in November and December 2018, you have at least one stress free afternoon guaranteed.

To begin, a remake of an old classic: everyone's favourite Christmas villain returns to the big screen this winter, in animated form, with Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the cynical Grinch. Inspired by the Dr. Seuss story, it tells the story of the lonely and grumpy Grinch, whose one mission is to ruin the Christmas spirit of Whoville. His mean soul is changed when he meets one young and generous girl. A heartwarming classic reimagined to bring that sense of Christmas nostalgia so the whole family will leave the cinema with a smile on their face.

Although not a festive film as such, you can never go wrong with a Disney animation. This story returns to the beloved characters of Vanelope and Ralph as they make their way from the arcade video game to the world of the internet. Written by the makers of 'Zootopia', you can count on plenty of subtle humour to entertain the adults, as you will be transported into this visually stunning portal into the materialised world of the internet.
