Disney+ is one of the most recent powers to join the war for the domination of streamable content. With the wealth of classics and upcoming originals in its catalogue, its intentions to overtake current streaming giants such as Netflix and Hulu are clear. After spending a few months watching fans across the pond enjoy content such as 'The Mandalorian', it's almost the UK's turn, with the platform set to drop on the 24th March. As the release date draws ever nearer, Disney+ UK has decided to sweeten the deal with a limited time offer: although Disney+ UK confirmed that a yearly subscription would cost £59.99, if you order by Monday 23rd March, you can subscribe to the platform for £49.99 a year instead.

'The Mandalorian' is one of the many shows available on Disney+
This deal saves £10.00 per year and knocks the monthly rate down from £5.99 per month to approximately £4.17 per month. You still have all the privileges of the standard user under the deal, with Disney+ promising Ultra HD quality and the ability to stream on four different devices simultaneously. This deal also makes Disney+ one of the most affordable streaming platforms compared to Netflix's rate of £5.99 per month and Amazon Prime Video's £7.99 per month. Could this be Disney+ UK's winning move in the battle of the streaming platforms? We only have a month of pre-ordering left before we find out.

The future king of streaming?

Even with several projects in the works (amongst which are the series from Marvel: 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier', 'WandaVision' and 'Loki' and 'Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi'), Disney+ is spoilt for choice when it comes to content. The catalogue offers all of the content from franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar and National Geographic as well as some releases from Fox, amongst which are the complete series of 'The Simpsons' and 'Avatar'. Adding to this once the series has launched will be several original series such as 'The Mandalorian', 'High School: The Musical: The Series' and 'The World According to Jeff Goldblum'.

Original films also have a place of honour on the platform, with the live-action 'Lady and the Tramp', 'Togo' and 'Star-Girl' acting as particular standouts. Disney+ has certainly made it difficult for its competitors to complete with its winning mix of affordability and great content. Netflix, watch out.
