One of the most popular actresses in China, Fan Bingbing, has not shown any signs of life since June 2018, when she was seen visiting a children's hospital, according to reports from CNN.
Her disappearance has caused much alarm and there are speculations that the Chinese Government could be behind this affair. Fan may have been secretly detained for a suspected tax evasion. In May of 2018 it was published that the actress had a popular type of contract in China called "yang-yang", with which two contracts are signed with different salaries. One of these with a small quantity of money (in her case 1.5 million dollars), under which all taxes will be paid and, on a separate form, a different, larger salary which is free from tax (7.5 million dollars in the case of Fan). The actress denied these claims at the time, according to The Wrap.
"If you are a billionaire, then that is something that obviously you can enjoy to a certain extent, but you've got to be very, very wary that you don't at any stage cross a red line of some sort and fall afoul of the Chinese Communist Party," said Fergus Ryan, cyber analyst for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.
Jump to Hollywood
Fan Bingbang has become one of the most popular actresses in China, however, she has also made the jump to Hollywood in films such as 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'texto enlace, 'Iron Man 3' or the Chinese dubbing of 'Despicable Me 3'.
