The countdown to the release of 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' has already begun, and with the arrival of the film to screens worldwide, J.K. Rowling and the cast have started the process of promoting the latest installment in the saga.

Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the creator of the franchise and the famous wizard boy has given certain details about the future of this adventure, starring Eddie Redmayne and Newt Scamander. "As with the Harry Potter books, it is all mapped out. In fact, when we announced the five films, I talked about that. It's always possible that some details will change along the way, but the arc of the story is there. It's been an amazing opportunity to tell parts of the backstory that never made it into the original books. I'm thinking particularly of one character that I think fans will be surprised to meet in this movie."

During the interview J.K. Rowling dropped one detail in particular about the coming sequels to 'Fantastic Beasts': each film will take place in a different muggle city. The author hinted at the different places to which we could travel, saying: "It's far too early to spoil anything. What I can say is that we'll go to at least one new city in the next film, possibly two, and I'm keen to move outside Europe and North America. But you'll just have to wait and see."

Regarding the story as a whole she added: "The first mention of Grindelwald is in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, so he has been part of the canon from the beginning. He was a very famous dark wizard whom Dumbledore defeated in 1945, a wizard who once owned the Elder Wand (as Voldemort did later). Although he remained rather mysterious in the Potter books, I had a very clear understanding of who Grindelwald was and what his story had been. Grindelwald is essential to an understanding of how Dumbledore became Dumbledore."

The Cast and Characters

Entertainment Weekly also had the opportunity to speak with the film's cast. Eddie Redmayne highlighted the inclusion of a new character, Bunty (Vitoria Yeates), whom, despite only appearing in a single scene as Newt's assistant, he said would be loved by the fans.

Jude Law spoke about his character, Albus Dumbledore, and how he relates to the Dumbledore we already know, played by Richard Harris and Michael Gambon. According to the actor, in this new installment we will be able to see a younger Dumbledore who is still trying to confront his recent past and his relationship with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

It seems that Rowling still has much to explore within the magical world. Luckily for her fans they will be able to explore at least three more films. 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' will be released on the 16th November.
