Emily Blunt has the difficult task of succeeding Julie Andrews in one of her most iconic roles: Mary Poppins. But you can rest assured, because Disney intends to fill this comeback film with magic so that children and adults alike leave with their mouths wide open, as did the spectators of the 1964 classic. Here you can watch the new trailer for 'Mary Poppins Returns':

The Rob Marshall film demonstrates in the trailer all of the nanny's powers, and includes a mixture of animation and live action as well as classic and contemporary, in a nod to many aspects of the original film. We can even hear Mary Poppins singing one of the film's theme songs. Will they succeed in bringing to life Mary Poppins without losing the essence which made one of the most iconic family characters in cinema history?

The film tells the story of Mary Poppins' return to the Banks' family home, however Jane and Michael are now grown up. Michael's children, and those of his sister, are in need of the nanny's care in order to remember the joys of life.

'Mary Poppins Returns' is brought to life

'Mary Poppins Returns' will arrive in cinemas on the 19th December. The spectacular cast of the film includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emily Mortimer, Ben Whishaw, Julie Walters, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and even the return of Dick Van Dyke.
