[DON'T READ IF YOU'VE NOT YET SEEN 'INFINITY WAR']

The 'Avengers: Infinity War' ending was by far the biggest cliffhanger we've seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Upon losing to Thanos and the infinity stones, a lot of the characters, who we've been introduced to throughout the 18 Marvel films, began to fade away, as per the super-villain's plan. It's suffice to say that the ending threw us all and now, many of us are left wondering about the future of the MCU and its characters.

As well as the superheroes, however, it's also worth considering what's happened to the rest of the Marvel characters, many of whom didn't appear in the final scene or in 'Infinity War' altogether. The characters in question include, Aunt May from 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', Nakia from 'Black Panther', Howard the duck from 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) from 'Thor' and 'Thor: The Dark World'.

 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Howard

Recently, the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, sat down with The Huffington Post, and addressed fans' concerns. The duo were grilled as to whether certain characters were still alive in the MCU, and in typical Russo style, the two had definitive answers for some and remained tight lipped about others.

It turns out that Howard the duck and Aunt May are still alive, whilst other characters, like Lady Sif from 'Thor' and Betty Ross from 'The Incredible Hulk' have passed. Adding a hint of humour into the interview, the directors were also asked about the fate of the actor playing Loki at the beginning of 'Thor: Ragnarok' (Matt Damon). Joe Russo didn't hesitate on that one, confirming the character's death with a simple "did not survive".

With regard to Jane Foster, Korg and Miek, also from 'Thor: Ragnarok', Shuri and Nakia from 'Black Panther' and Ned from 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', however, the Russos refused to answer, leading us to believe their response could reveal some sort of spoiler for the future of the MCU. Perhaps the aforementioned roles are key to the 'Avengers 4' plot or future MCU films. Through all of the characters, we're more excited to find out whether we'll get to see Natalie Portman's Jane Foster in the upcoming Avengers film.

What ever happened to Hawkeye and Ant-Man?

One of the biggest surprises of 'Infinity War' was the absence of Hawkeye and Ant-Man. The Russos refused to speak of the characters, but luckily for us, we may get a glimpse into the latter hero's fate with thanks to the fast approaching, 'Ant-Man and The Wasp'. The film is set for UK release on 3rd August. We'll have to wait until 2019 and the release of 'Avengers 4' to see just what happened to Hawkeye.
