Shailene Woodley arrived at the 2017 Emmy awards on Sunday as a nominee for the Outstanding supporting actress in a limited series category for her role in HBO's 'Big Little Lies'. The award went to 'Laura Dern' from the same show, although that didn't stop Woodley from being the talk of the evening. The actress had a controversial confession for E! on the red carpet.

During the interview, Woodley made the mistake of admitting she doesn't have the time to watch television.

As if that admission wasn't bad enough, Woodley went on to clarify that she doesn't even own a TV, and that she hasn't since she moved out of her parents home. Her comments were received as you might have expected, given that she was only at an awards night celebrating television.

Woodley's TV career

The irony in the actress' comments lies in the fact that she owes her career to her work on the small screen. 'The O.C', 'Crossing Jordan', and 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' are just a few of the shows Woodley has starred in, although she has also appeared in episodes of 'My name is Earl', 'Without a trace', 'Everybody loves Raymond', and 'CSI: New York'.

In terms of TV films, Woodley has had roles in 'Replacing Dad' and 'A place called home'.
