Sophie Turner has found her first television role since becoming the Queen of the North in 'Game of Thrones'. The British actress will star in 'Survive' alongside Corey Hawkins ('Straight Outta Compton'), a series for the new streaming platform Quibi that will launch in April 2020.

Sophie Turner is set to take to our TV screens again as Jane in 'Survive'
'Survive' is based on Alex Morel's novel of the same name, and tells the story of Jane (Sophie Turner), a woman who has to fight for survival when an aeroplane crashes into a snow-covered mountain. Paul (Corey Hawkins) is the only other survivor from the flight, and together they must discover their wild sides and overcome their trauma to survive.

"I couldn't be prouder to play Jane in 'Survive' for Quibi," confirms Turner. "(Jane) is a complex character fighting against wind and sea not only to save her life, but also to find her own source of strength and courage. I just hope that this could impact someone who is struggling with self-esteem so that they understand that they are braver than they think and so that they seek out the support they need", she concludes.

The series will be directed by Mark Pellington and written by Richard Abate and Jeremy Ungar. It will be produced by Abate himself, as well as by Cary Granat and Ed Jones, and will premiere on Quibi as one of the twelve series that the platform wishes to launch in April 2020.

Quibi's Catalogue

Quibi, a new company founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg, has presented various projects with famous faces so as to make a place for itself in the already saturated streaming market. Amongst these gambles, you'll find a horror series by Steven Spielberg titled 'After Dark' which apparently can only be seen when the sun goes down. There have been murmurs of other names such as Guillermo del Toro, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Raimi, Jason Blum, Steven Soderbergh, Catherine Hardwicke, Anna Kendrick, Doug Liman, Laurence Fishburne and basketball player Stephen Curry (yes, since Kobe Bryant won an Oscar and 'Space Jam 2' was announced the NBA is breaking into the audiovisual market). Other Quibi projects are attached to Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Don Cheadle, Idris Elba. There's even a remake of the MTV classic 'Punk'd', once presented by Ashton Kutcher.

Keeping in mind the number of series targeting "millennials" between 25 and 30 years old, this streaming service will launch two versions: one with ads for $4.99 and one without ads for $7.99. The platform's CEO, Meg Whitman (also the boss of large businesses such as eBay and HP), is eager to share projects with other platforms. "We have a lot of faith in what we are capable to delivering to the audience (...) especially when you think about how predominant streaming services are today, and our habit of watching videos on our phones," affirms Whitman.
