It's hard not to love Winona Ryder, whether it's the actress herself, or her character Joyce on 'Stranger Things', Ryder has proven time and time again that she's not afraid to take up arms. If only to prove this fact further, the actress has gone viral on Twitter for speaking out about a recent encounter with her high school bully.

The story is taken from Nigel Goodhall's biography on the actress. The incident was so bad that Ryder had to leave school to be home-schooled; she has always seen the bright side though, "Had I not been homeschooled I would not have been able to go", to the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. "It's almost weird fate that it happened that way".

Despite years having gone by, Ryder hasn't lost her personal brand. The actress recently opened up to Marie Claire about where she's at now. Ryder famously took a break from acting and the spotlight after a shoplifting incident that led to a trial in 2002. "My hiatus. Whatever they want to call it - I did take time off. It was mutual, I think. I just went through a tough time".

However, Ryder's role on 'Stranger Things' as Joyce, mother to Will Bryers has brought her back to the centre of attention. "There are only three ages for women in Hollywood: Babe, District Attorney and 'Driving Ms Daisy'. Or mother, which I am now. Luckily... I get to do some more stuff with", my current character.

Ryder doesn't just play mom on screen, she's also taken up the role on set, with her much younger co-stars. "Millie (Bobby Brown) teases me. I'm like the old grandma. She adopts a wobbly voice: «What are you kids doing? Snack chat? Give me a piece of that! I'm like the confused older person»". Like any good mother, the exposure that young talents get nowadays worries her. "As much as I love it, I don't know if I would even have become an actor" nowadays, "I wouldn't know how to [handle it]. I do worry about the massive exposure at that age".
