Plot
The assault on the Capitol, told from within the people who did it. This documentary reconstructs minute by minute one of the most shocking days in recent American history, through footage filmed by its own protagonists: radicalized followers, far-right influencers, religious fanatics, and ordinary citizens caught in a current of collective fury marched into one of the buildings where the step of power was being held.
Selfies, prayers, explosions, flags, and incendiary speeches compose a choreography of chaos that unfolded in broad daylight and before the eyes of the world. But this is not just a chronicle of January 6, 2021, but a vivid image of the entire world.
It is also a journey back to the post-war propaganda that shaped the idea of nation, and an analysis of the digital ecosystem that turned misinformation into a political weapon, leading to violent, unconstitutional acts that threaten democracy.
The result: an uncomfortable portrait of a divided country, where flammable ideologies, the culture of spectacle, and the viral power of social media intertwine to become part of the culture of the United States and a parallel of the West. Was it an isolated act of extremism... or a warning of what is to come? This is what the documentary explores.
