Dead Slow Ahead

Directed by Spanish filmmakker Mauro Herce, 'Dead Slow Ahead' is a pseudo documentary that portrays the daily life on the freighter Fair Lady, whose crew mainly from the Phillippines. We enter the vast and monotonous reality of boat plying the waters stretching from Ukraine to New Orleans through the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Suez Canal and across the Atlantic Sea. Through this journey, we see the last gestures of the old office of the sailors, disappearing under the PLC rhythm of the 21st century. The suspense hangs over the boat and we are left not knowing whether it is a ship adrift or the last of a dying breed.
