Plot
'Final Destination' is a American film directed by James Wong. Its success led to multiple sequels, thus creating the Final Destination saga. Initially conceived by Jeffrey Reddick as the plot for an episode of the series 'The X-Files', the subsequent interest from James Wong and Glen Morgan transformed the script into an independent film. It premiered in the United States on March 17, 2000.
The protagonist is Alex Browning, a young teenager who is about to embark with all his classmates on a trip to Paris. Once on the plane, Browning has a premonition that the aircraft is going to suffer an accident, and ends up leaving it along with some classmates after causing a small commotion on board. Shortly after takeoff, the plane explodes, thus confirming the young man's forebodings.
Weeks later, one of the survivors, Tod, ends up dying accidentally in his home. Although authorities point to suicide, Alex investigates and concludes that his vision disrupted Death's plans, which is now going to claim the lives of all those who survived the accident. In light of this, the young man tries to convince the survivors of what is happening.
'Final Destination' stars Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, and Tony Todd. The film was a major commercial success, grossing $112.9 million worldwide against a budget of only $23 million. It triumphed especially among horror genre enthusiasts, winning the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film in 2000.

Trivia
180
Throughout the entire film, there are numerous references to the number 180, which is also the flight number the main characters were supposed to take to Paris. All of this is because, originally, 'Final Destination' was going to be called 'Flight 180', although the title was later changed.
The Crazy Ending that Never Was
In one version of the film, Alex and Clear were involved in a romantic subplot. In the beach scene, they ended up kissing, and later, Clear discovered she was pregnant. Additionally, in an alternate ending, Alex dies from electrocution while trying to save Clear, who eventually names her baby Alex. All of this was removed from the final cut.
Teen slasher
In the early drafts, the group of survivors was made up of seven strangers. However, due to the popularity of teen slashers at the time, the team decided to change it to a high school class instead.
