Inspiration
The director and writer Bani Khoshnoudi, used her own experience to write the script for Ramin. She was also born in Teherán like this character, but she was raised in Texas. She also was inspired by a newspaper piece about an Iraqi man that accidentally arrive to Veracruz from Greece in the wrong ship.
Veracruz
The film was tapped in Veracruz, México. The film shows the duality of the place between the violence in the region and the festival vibes of the carnival.

Arash Amandi
According to the actor Arash Amand, ti was a challenge for him to play Ramin because he didn't felt identify, they haven´t live the same circumstances. In addition to Amandi not being homosexual, he doesn't have the same connection with Iran because he was raise in Germany.
