Further beyond

Directed by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, 'Further beyond' is the cinematographic debut of these two filmmakers. This documentary is about the figure of the eighteenth century Ambrose O'Higgins, traveling with him who made the extraordinary journey from Ireland to Chile. The film shows us the key places in the life of O'Higgins as Lake Sligo, a field in Meath, the port of Cadiz, the sea or the edge of a snow-covered mountain in the Andes. After waiting so long, this biopic of O'Higgins is an attempt by the filmmakers to realize a dream through a personal journey with the idea of the film locations as a base. Slowly and with humor, these intertwined narratives discover ideas about the transformative powers of traveling and how quirky look through the prism of the Irish experience.
