Plot
'Kahaani 2' is the sequel of an Indian movie of the same name released in 2012. Vidya Balan plays again Vidya, the main character of the story. She is a school teacher that lives peacefully with her daughter. When the little girl goes missing, Vidya will have to face a lot of traumatic events that will led to a very shocking accusation by the authorities, that are totally convinced that she has kidnapped and murdered her own daughter. 'Kahaani' was a big hit in India back in the moment of its release. Will it repeat this success? Mystery, action and a big number of secrets unsolved are the key of this sequel that really promises to turn 'Kahaani' into a successful franchise of thriller movies.

A project with difficulties
Sujoy Ghosh was going to direct the film in 2014 under the title 'Durga Rani Singh'. At the time, he had signed Irrfan Khan and Vidya Balan. Vidya then opted out and Kangana Ranaut was brought in to replace her. Yet, due to delays both Irrfan and Kangana left the film. That's when the director decided to retite the film as Kahaani 2 and bring back Vidya Balan.
