Little Amélie or the Character of Rain

'Little Amélie or the Character of Rain' is an animated film that adapts the acclaimed novel by Amélie Nothomb, 'Metaphysics of Tubes'. It narrates the early years of a Belgian girl born in Japan who, from her arrival in the world, perceives herself as a silent presence observing reality without participating in it: as if she were a tube through which existence flows. 

The story takes place in Japan, in the late 1960s, in an environment full of colors, sounds, and everyday rituals that contrast with the initial stillness of the protagonist. Through various experiences, discovering pleasure, relating to nature and her family, the little girl begins to awaken her consciousness to start interacting with the world around her and discover her parents, siblings, passions, and language. 

The narrative is constructed through a poetic and philosophical tone marked by an intimate perspective, exploring universal themes such as identity, childhood, and the construction of the self. The animation has an evocative and sensitive style that translates emotions into symbolic images.
