Monumental

'Monumental' is the story of seven people diagnosed with serious and lasting mental illnesses from the theater workshop in which they find themselves, from the photographic portraits that one of them decides to make of them, from the relationships that little by little are established between them, their confessions, dreams and concerns. But, above all, it is because of his particular catharsis through the filming of the documentary itself; for some, a way to make peace with their past; for others, the discovery of new friends; and for others, a way to face the ghosts of their childhood. In short, an experience that will mark a turning point in their lives forever.

Rosa Berned, director and scriptwriter of the documentary, intends to give a direct voice to these people. Without a filter, trying to avoid a clinical discourse, exploring the human being beyond her illness. She was not interested in talking about the disease because there is a lot of information about that, nor that professionals discovered what schizophrenia is or the problems of social integration that it entails in many cases; it is not an allegation about the stigma they suffer, it focuses on life

and the story of seven people in particular and wondering what is normal and what is not.
