Plot

'My Cousin Vinny' is a U.S. comedy directed by Jonathan Lynn with a screenplay by Dale Launer. The film, starring Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei, premiered in the United States on March 13, 1992. The movie received good reviews and was well-received by audiences, grossing over 64 million dollars on a budget of 11 million, making it one of the most successful films of the year. Additionally, Marisa Tomei won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mona Lisa Vito.

Bill Gambini and Stan Rothenstein are college friends from New York who, during a trip to Alabama, steal a can of tuna from a roadside store. Shortly after, they are arrested when the store owner is found murdered and the store is looted. Thinking they have been arrested for the theft of the can of tuna, Bill confesses to the crime, and the two end up charged with first-degree murder and complicity.

Due to a lack of financial resources to hire a lawyer, the guys trust their defense to Bill's cousin, Vinny Gambini, who is supposedly a lawyer by profession. What the two do not know is that Vinny has just passed the bar exam after years of trying, and this is his first trial. He arrives there with his fiancée, Mona Lisa Vito.

The cast of 'My Cousin Vinny' is completed by Ralph Macchio and Mitchell Whitfield as Bill and Stan, while the judge is portrayed by Fred Gwynne in what is his last role before his death. The comedy, one of the most remembered of the nineties, was filmed entirely in various locations in Georgia.
