Plot
Powerful and compelling Oscar-winning look at the 1972 Olympics and the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes after being held hostage in Munich's Olympic village by Palestinian extremists. The film traces the disastrous events that occurred on Sept. 5, 1972 and the motives of the terrorists through incredible newsreel footage, interviews with relatives of the athletes and officials, and testimony from Jamal al-Gashey, the sole surviving hostage-taker.
