Greta Lee thought it was fun to tell her family and friends that she would take on this role, many of them were surprised and wondered what she would do if she didn't know how to speak Korean.
Story based on real facts
Like Na Young/Nora, director Celine Song moved with her parents from Korea to Canada. She later settled in the United States, began writing plays and married a writer.

Both Teo Yoo and Greta Lee had previously lived in Manhattan's East Village, where many of the film's scenes were filmed.
Director strategy
Celine Song tried to keep Greta Lee and Teo Yoo separate as much as possible so that the scenes where their two characters finally meet seemed more real.
Final song
During the scene in the bar towards the end of the movie the song that can heard is "Don't look back", a song from 1965 by the Irish group Them featuring Van Morrison.
False accent
Although it doesn't seem like it with his character's Korean accent and broken English, Teo Yoo (Hae Sung) speaks English very fluently along with three other languages.
