Portabella Constellation

Pere Portabella was born in 1927 and has established himself as one of the most important and influential figures in the history of Spanish cinema. He was one of the driving forces behind the Barcelona School and has worked as a producer on films of the caliber of 'Los golfos' (Carlos Saura), 'El cochecito' (Marco Ferreri), and 'Viridiana' (Luis Buñuel). He has directed more than 20 works: 'Vampir-Cuadecuc', 'El sopar', and 'Informe General', among others. 

Claudio Zulian ('La montaña mágica'), producer, writer, musician, and artist, directs ''Portabella Constellation'', the first documentary film dedicated to his life and work. The Italian director, born in Campodarsego and currently based in Barcelona, brings to the audience a personal testimony of Portabella, accompanied by others from more cultural avant-garde artists, such as Joan Brossa, Carles Santos, Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, Esteve Riambau, and Luis E. Parés. 

Zulian crafts a complete portrait of the chameleonic filmmaker and politician, adding interventions that engage with his extensive body of work, in which a significant part of the history of Spain over the last seventy years can be read, from Francoism to the present day. 

The film from 2024 had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
