Plot
Edward Lewis is a high-level executive who specializes in buying and selling companies. His girlfriend has just left him, and on a business trip in Los Angeles, he ends up with a borrowed sports car on Hollywood Boulevard's red-light district. Unable to operate the car's manual transmission, he decides to impulsively hire the services of a prostitute, Vivian Ward, to help him drive it.
Back at the hotel, he invites Vivian to his room, where he is surprised by the chemistry between them. Thus, he proposes she work for him for the entire week as a companion for $3,000 and a wardrobe change. Gradually, Edward transforms Vivian, teaching her how to behave in public and live among millionaires.
When Edward's lawyer suspects that Vivian is a corporate spy, he ends up confessing to her that she is really a prostitute. When the lawyer tries to make advances on Vivian, she discovers that Edward has found out and ends up breaking up with him, although she has fallen in love with him over this time.
Conceived in 1990 as a film about prostitution and class struggle, it was transformed at the last minute into a romantic movie that swept the box office and continues to be one of the most watched films on every TV rerun more than thirty years later. Even today, it remains Disney's highest-grossing R-rated film.
