Regression marks Alejandro Amenabar's return to the thriller genre with which he began his career back in 1996.

In the beginning, Amenábar was looking for a younger girl than Emma Watson to play Angela (who is 17). When he finally chose her, he was surprised because Watson looked much younger than 17 in the shooting.
Emma Watson previously starred with David Thewlis in the Harry Potter series.
It's the second time that Emma Watson stars alongside an actor that has played Hamlet in the big screen. The first was Kennet Branaggh in 'Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets', an now next to Ethan Hawke in 'Regression'.
'Regression' will be presented at the Festival of San Sebastian (2015).
On the first day of shooting of Regression Emma Watson tweeted that "she had so much fun in doing this film."
'Regression' was filmed in Toronto and Spain.
