The Hand That Rocks the Cradle

‘'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle'’ is a new version directed by Michelle Garza of the 1992 film of the same name by Curtis Hanson.

This new version maintains the ancestral terror of the original but adds a more modern perspective, worthy of a recreation of a work three decades earlier.

Mrs. Mott is a woman (Maika Monroe) who sees her life falling apart. Misfortunes pile up: first she loses her son, and then she watches her husband's career come to an end.

According to her, there is only one person responsible for all the bad things she is going through: Claire Bartel (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

Bott devises a plan to seek justice for herself and her family, deciding to gradually enter Claire's life. And how can she achieve this? She poses as a nanny.

This psychological thriller gradually deconstructs the narrative created by the classic from the nineties. The illusion of domestic happiness crumbles at the hands of director Michelle Garza.

The film addresses themes that highlight the vulnerabilities of the characters. Motherhood, fragility, trust, manipulation. Sometimes terror does not come dressed in black with red eyes, but rather pretends to be our right-hand man only to try to take as much as it can from us.
