Traffic

Jesus (Joaquim Oliveira) is a Portuguese young man who goes on vacation with his parents. One night, the protagonist digs a hole in the sand of a deserted beach and encounters an unexpected booty: a large stash of drugs. On the same day, and not far from the scene, two priests decide to close the doors of his church because of the absence of parishioners put up for auction and the images of their most beloved saints. Amid this plot also shows a womanizer obsessed with money banker, an elegant, sensual and mysterious woman and a politician without scruples. They give rise to a series of adventures which crazier.

Comedy co-produced by Portugal, France and Denmark and directed by filmmaker João Botelho Portuguese. It was presented in the official competition at the Venice Film Festival and the 1998 Toronto Film Festival that year.
