It was recently brought to light that Mark Wahlberg was paid significantly more than his co-star, Michelle Williams, for the reshoot of 'All the Money in the World' in which Christopher Plummer replaced Kevin Spacey. The difference in earnings between Wahlberg and Williams only emphasises the rife gender pay gap in Hollywood.

According to USA Today, Wahlberg earned $1.5million, whilst Williams was only paid $1000. Mark Wahlberg has since decided to take matters into his own hands.

The actor has revealed that he plans to donate his earnings from the reshoot of 'All the Money in the world' to the Time's Up campaign. Wahlberg is to make the donation under Michelle Williams' name.

Wahlberg, who is considered the highest paid actor of 2017, at least, according to Forbes, revealed his plans via his Twitter page.

Michelle Williams had her say

Following Mark Wahlberg's announcement, Michelle Williams also released a statement, thanking the actor and emphasising the necessity for both men and women to make sacrifices in order for a better, more equal future.

"Today isn't about me. My fellow actresses stood by me and stood up for me, my activist friends taught me to use my voice, and the most powerful men in charge, they listened and they acted. If we truly envision an equal world, it takes equal effort and sacrifice. Today is one of the most indelible days of my life because of Mark Wahlberg, WME and a community of women and men who share this accomplishment."
