Whilst no official return date has been set yet, the BBC released the first trailer for its show 'Peaky Blinders', that is going for its fourth season. The network had previously released an image teasing the new series but had not said anything since.

The fourth series is thought to follow on from where we left the Shelby family at the end of the last series. Although from the trailer, it is clear that some time has passed given that Charlie Shelby - Tommy's son - has grown significantly and that he is no longer the toddler we saw him as in series 3. The Independent states that six months will have gone by between series 3 and 4.

It is hinted that series 4 will see the Blinders return home to Birmingham instead of attempting to expand their empire to bigger cities, like London. Speaking to TodayFM, actor Cillian Murphy, who plays gangster boss, Tommy Shelby explained how, "In the classic gangster arc, the last season was sort of all about the wealth, the house and all that material stuff. This season is sort of a return to the roots. That's about as much as I can reveal."

As anticipated as the trailer was, it still does not give much away, nor does it clarify the clues Cillian Murphy dropped during an interview with BBC 2 back in June.

New Faces

The trailer introduces new faces, Oscar winner, Adrien Brody ('The Grand Budapest Hotel), and 'Game of Thrones' actor Aidan Gillen, to the show. In an interview with Metro, creator, Steven Knight was able to shed some light on the roles the two actors will play. "Adrien plays the threat to the family and possibly the biggest they'll face," whereas, "Aidan is a sort of, in the face of danger it's like pressing the nuclear button - you get him to help. Let me put it that way."

Aside from the new recruits, Tom Hardy will be returning to reprise his role as London based gangster, Alfie Solomons.
