The 80s inspired Netflix original 'Stranger Things' was released last summer and was almost universally acclaimed. The series tells the story of a strange incident in a small and peaceful town in quasi-rural America which triggers a series of events starring a group of friends. The second season is already well underway to being made.

A while ago, we discovered that Sean Astin, one of the stars of one of the most emblematic films of the 80s ('The Goonies') as well as being the famous and favourite Hobbit of many fans for his loyalty and courage in 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, would be joining the cast for the second season.

Until now we knew that Astin would take the role of Bob Newby, a former nerd and good-hearted guy from Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper's (David Harbour) school and who currently owns the local electronic goods shop, RadioShark.

However a new detail has been revealed by one of the main characters in the cast. "We have Sean Astin... He's Winona's new boyfriend" - said David Harbour at the Fan2Sea Comic Con cruise (via HollywoodLife).

What more do we know?

I don't know if the character knows what happened. "A year has passed so there are certain things that have happened since then. Some of the inhabitants of Hawkins know exactly what happened and others have no idea. So there is confusion since you do not know who knows what."

The filming of the series created by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer is to occur in Atlanta during the month of April with the intention to release the premiere in summer of this same year. The second season will be set in the autumn of 1984.
