Horror films have gone through somewhat of a revamp with thanks to James Wan and 2013's 'The Conjuring'. The first film in the franchise kicked off a series of sequels and spin-offs and the latest title to join the list will be 'The Nun'. The upcoming film marks the second spin-off for the franchise and if the first promotional images are anything to go by, we're in for a real scare.

 'The Nun'

Corin Hardy, responsible for 'The Hallow' is riding solo on the film set to focus on 'The Nun' we first saw in 'The Conjuring 2'. The demon, or Valak, the name it goes by, had originally been haunting Lorraine Warren, but now, it appears the character's back with a vengeance, and this time, it's coming for us.

Keeping it in the family

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, first came into contact with Valak in the James Wan directed sequel to 'The Conjuring'. This time around, Valak is getting it's own backstory and Vera Farmiga's own younger sister, Taissa will have a big role to play. Talk about keeping things in the family!

'The Nun' is set to focus on a priest with paranormal knowledge who travels to Romania in order to investigate the mysterious suicide of a nun at the Carta Monastery. It's there that the priest will uncover the age-old secret about a demon in the form of a nun: Valak.

Alongside Taissa Farmiga, who'll play Sister Irene in the film, will be Charlotte Hope, Oscar nominsted Demián Bichir, Jonas Bloquet, Jonny Coyne, Mark Steger and Bonnie Aarons, who'll be reprising her role as Valak.

'The Nun' is set for UK release on 7th September!
