There's a lot of obscurity surrounding Voldemort's past. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was a real pain in the neck for 'Harry Potter' and the rest of the magical community; his wickedness knew no bounds. But, what do we really know about the magician's uprising? In both the books and films, there's a significant lack of information about Voldemort, and the little we do know, relates to his childhood. The Grey Lady, ghost and daughter of Rawena Ravenclaw, founder of the synonymous House, claims Riddle was a sly, snake-like student. However, there's no concrete image of who the Dark Lord was before he became Voldemort. Until now that is, for Gianmaria Pezzato and Stefano Prestia have created a fan-made film, entitled 'Voldemort: Origins of the Heir', which tells all about the heir of Slytherin's passage to the dark side.

 The heirs

The film is the product of crowdfunding, in which the producers of the film asked fans to donate to their idea. The production started with a trailer on YouTube, which soon attracted the wrong kind of attention; there were copyright issues over the fan-made film, based on the 'Harry Potter' saga that we all know belongs to J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. As a consequence, the trailer had to be taken down. Shortly after, Pezzato was able to sit down with Warner Bros., who gave the former the go ahead, so long as his project remained non-profit. Another trailer was subsequently uploaded, and to this date it has gained more than 4 million views.

'Voldemort: Origins of the Heir' has been available to watch on YouTube since its release on 13th January, and to this day remains sixth in the list of most watched videos on the site.

Made with care

Tom Riddle's (Stefano Rossi) uprising as Voldemort and the decisions that lead him to create his Horcruxes are unexplored avenues that fans are very much looking forward to hearing about.

Huffington Post stated, "'Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir' is very impressive for a low budget, fan production filmed at various Italian locations. The set design, costumes and visual effects are particularly striking".

Overall, if the views are anything to go by, it appears as though this film has been quite a success. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a watch!
