Matlock

'Matlock' is an American series created by Jennie Snyder Urman and starring Kathy Bates, who also serves as executive producer. It is a legal procedural drama based on the eponymous series aired on NBC and ABC between 1986 and 1995, although with a notable difference, as at that time the protagonist was a man, Andy Griffith, and now it is a woman.

The original series was produced by Dean Hargrove and Fred Silverman, and became a benchmark for legal drama in the 80s and 90s, with a total of 9 seasons and 194 episodes. Its formula of self-contained cases and Andy Griffith's charisma as Ben Matlock made it an international success, influencing many subsequent series in the genre. The original cast included, in addition to Griffith, Nancy Stafford, Kari Lizer, Linda Purl, Clarence Gilyard Jr., and Brynn Thayer, among others, consolidating a memorable ensemble that contributed to the enduring legacy of the series.

After suffering several delays due to the writers' strike, the series premiered on CBS on September 22, 2024, and is also available on its streaming service, Paramount+.

Kathy Bates plays Madeline Kingston, a retired lawyer and fan of the 'Matlock' series, who wants to avenge the death of her daughter Ellie in a traffic accident due to the opioid epidemic. To do this, she poses as a supposed widowed lawyer who begins working at the firm that may have hidden important information that could have prevented the accident that took her daughter's life.

Joining Bates in the cast are: Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, Leah Lewis, David del Río, Sam Anderson, Aaron Harris, and Beau Bridges.
