Sinopsis
('Bron (The Bridge)') is a Nordic suspense series that renewed the European police thriller genre. It adopts a sober, dark, and human perspective.
Martin Rohde (Kim Bodnia) and Saga Norén (Sofia Helin) are two police officers from Denmark and Sweden respectively who investigate a crime on the bridge that connects the two countries.
The discovery of half the body of a Swedish politician and that of a Danish prostitute on this bridge prompts the police forces of the neighboring countries to begin an investigation and a joint effort to find the killer.
While the Swedish side of the investigation takes a brilliant, meticulous, and literal path; the Danish side shows its social antonym with a more intuitive, empathetic, and emotional perspective.
Both methods create tension between the investigators as the murder becomes something more than just the crime itself. The killer does not simply kill for the sake of killing, but rather tries to send a political and moral message to society.
Throughout the investigation, themes such as inequality, hypocrisy, loneliness, and the limits of justice arise. All exposed through a cold, silent atmosphere and a contained rhythm.
This Scandinavian production between Sweden and Denmark crosses the borders of the countries and reaches televisions across Europe. Hans Rosenfeld creates and writes the series, which is directed by Henrik Georgsson. Each season deals with a different investigation that the two police officers must solve through new ethical and personal boundaries.

Trivia
Throughout the series, Saga is often seen carrying a round container from which she obtains something that she then places between her gum and cheek. This is a pouch of Swedish Snus, a tobacco product that many Swedes use as an alternative to cigarettes.
England and France have their own version of The bridge, named The Tunnel.
