The Torrente saga, created, directed and starring Santiago Segura, is preparing to expand its universe with a sixth instalment titled 'Torrente presidente'. This franchise, which began in 1998 with 'Torrente, the Fool's Arm of the Law', marked a milestone in the history of Spanish cinema by becoming the highest-grossing film of that year. Its immediate success allowed the launch of a sequel, 'Torrente, Mission in Marbella' (2000), which even surpassed the first instalment in box office earnings. Over the years, the saga continued with 'Torrente 3: The Protector' (2005), 'Torrente 4: Lethal Crisis' (2011) and 'Torrente 5: Eurovegas Operation' (2014), consolidating the popularity of an iconic and controversial character, known for his irreverent, vulgar and satirical humour, who has remained close to the Spanish public for more than two decades.
