A Decent Man's reviews
Media reviews
This is a very confident debut by Marcu, who never lets the action get out of hand, avoiding sentimentality as well as histrionic scenes.
Despite a potential base and its good performances, 'A Decent Man' is a film too distant and anodyne.
The key to the story?s success is the skillful harmony between the composition of the physical environment inhabited by the characters (the factory, the hospital corridors, etc.) and the mental landscape to which they are bound, riddled with secrets, lies and a great deal of dissatisfaction.
None of this is original or world-shattering material, and the film tries very hard to remain drama-free (sometimes to the point of being sedated), but it is a mature take on an immature protagonist and on choosing one?s path in life.
