A Woman

Juliane Verbeck is the general police commissioner of Paris. She is a woman of great moral integrity and great inner strength, but the discovery of her husband's double life will make her suddenly lose her balance and lead her to behaviors and acts she would never have thought....

The film, directed by filmmaker Jean-Paul Civeyrac, tells in his style the story of a brilliant police officer whose ethical code is at risk after discovering her husband's infidelity.

Since his debut in 1996, Civeyrac has addressed the tribulations of French society in his films through genres such as horror and fantasy. As his cinema has evolved, he has chosen to deal more directly with social problems, leaving aside the supernatural and approaching the denunciation through the contextual framework of youth with films.

In this film, Civeyrac offers the absolute leading role to the veteran French actress, the César winner Sophie Marceau and a regular collaborator with filmmakers such as Claude Pinoteau, Andrzej Zulawski and Maurice Pialat. The film had its world premiere in the Piazza Grande Section of the prestigious Locarno Film Festival and participated in the Angouleme Francophone Film Festival.

Besides directing 'A woman', Civeyrac writes the script of the film.
