Plot

Benny Boom helms this biopic of rapper Tupac Shakur's life. He was born in 1971 in New York City, and died at 25 in a shooting in Las Vegas after watching a fight starring Mike Tyson. In spite of his hard beginnings, the musician managed to become a star thanks to his talent and his activist lyrics, and still up to this day he is a cultural icon for millions of people around the globe. The film tells his first years at the Big Apple, where he was raised by a mother who was a crack addict, and also his successful times under the wing of Death Row Records, not forgetting his rivalry with The Notorious B.I.G. Demetrius Shipp Jr. puts himself in Tupac's shoes, and the cast is completed with Kat Graham, Danai Gurira and Jamal Woolard.

Trivia

Not so true...

On Twitter, Jada Pinkett Smith stated that the film contained many inaccuracies about her relationship with Tupac Shakur and why he left for Los Angeles. Smith said that Tupac never read the poem he read to her character in the film, and she never knew it existed until it was published in his book. She also said that she never attended one of Tupac's shows at his request, and there was no backstage argument. She did, however, praise the performances of Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Kat Graham.

Jamal Woolard also portrayed The Notorious B.I.G. in 'Notorious'.
