An Ordinary Case

Jean Monier is a lawyer who has decided not to take on any more criminal cases since he managed to get a repeat offender acquitted. Everything changes when he meets Nicolas Milik, a family man who has been accused of murdering his wife. The case was meant for his wife, but to lighten his workload a bit, he decides to take the case. As the trial unfolds, Monier becomes increasingly involved. The man manages to move the lawyer and put his certainties in jeopardy. Monier is convinced that his client is innocent and is willing to do whatever it takes to win the trial, which will last three days. Thus, what was supposed to be just another trial will test him like never before.

The film, written, directed, and starring Daniel Auteuil, is an adaptation of the book by Jean-Yves Moyart, a lawyer and criminal law expert who documented his judicial experiences in writing. 'Presumption of Innocence' premiered worldwide in the Special section of the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

Also part of the cast are Grégory Gadebois ('Miss Violet'), Sidse Babett Knudsen ('Borgen'), Alice Belaïdi, Suliane Brahim, Gaëtan Roussel, Isabelle Candelier, and Florence Janas.
