McKenna Grace replaces Sterling Jerins as Judy Warren. Jerins played Judy in the first two Conjuring films.

Warren family in a spin-off
This is the first time that Ed and Lorraine Warren appear in one of 'The Conjuring' spin-offs. So far, the couple hasn't appeared in none of the parallel films.

Returning to the past
James Wan stated that the movie will pick up directly after Ed and Lorraine Warren took the Annabelle doll, in the first Annabelle movie. Therefore the movie will take place in Ed and Lorraine house, along with all the other artifacts.
