Plot
The use of photography in fashion magazines and the art of it is very much attributed to Antonio Lopez and this documentary focuses on the fashion illustrator's life. Puerto Rican born Lopez, was raised in The Bronx, and passed away in 1987 from Aids. 'Antonio Lopez 1970: Sex, Fashion & Disco' is made up of a series of interviews with his nearest and dearest who remember the individual.
Lopez is attributed to having discovered both Jessica Lange and Grace Jones, both of whom remember him dearly. The illustrator's celebrity address book doesn't end there however, for Lopez was also very close to Karl Lagerfeld, Jerry Hall, Bill Cunningham and former French Vogue editor, Joan Juliet Buck among many others.
The documentary is directed by James Crump.
