Bambi: The Reckoning

'Bambi: The Reckoning' is a British independent horror film directed by Dan Allen and written by Rhys Warrington. Scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on July 25, 2025, this film offers a dark and bloody reinterpretation of the classic children's character Bambi, transforming him into a monstrous and vengeful creature.

The story follows Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron), who survive a car accident in a remote wooded area. As they try to find help, they become the target of Bambi, a mutated and disfigured deer driven by rage and pain, seeking revenge for the death of his mother at the hands of hunters. This Bambi, far from the sweet fawn we all know, is an unstoppable killing machine that charges at vehicles, decapitates its prey, and hunts victims down to their hideouts.

As the film progresses, it is revealed that Bambi is not the only being altered by tragedy. Zombified rabbits appear, a reference to the original characters from Felix Salten's work, attacking the hunters and expanding the horror in the woods.

This film is part of the "Twisted Childhood Universe" (TCU), a cinematic universe that reimagines classic characters from children's tales in horror versions. The TCU includes titles like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, and will culminate in the crossover Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.
