Homage to the creator
The older woman Barbie is talking to in the real world, according to the subtitles of the official Main Trailer, is called Ruth. She is named after Ruth Handler, the co-founder of Mattel and is considered the "Mother of Barbie". She created the first Barbie in 1959.
An invisible script
Diablo Cody admitted that she didn't have a script when she was involved. She was replaced by the writer Olivia Milch.
Another Barbie replacement
Anne Hathaway was announced to replace Schumer in 2017, but she departed the project in 2018.
Cast
Amy Schumer was cast in the lead role, but she dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts in March 2017.
Ken pride
