Blithe Spirit

Based on the play by Noël Coward, 'Blithe Spirit' tells the story of Charles Condomine (Dan Stevens, 'Downton Abbey'), a widowed crime novelist who is ailed by writer's block as he attempts to complete his first screenplay. His second wife, Ruth (Isla Fisher 'Arrested Development'), encourages him to keep it up, desperately wishing to relocate to Hollywood. In the search for inspiration, he and Ruth take part in a séance led by the eccentric Madame Arcati (Judi Dench, 'Skyfall') and accidentally summon Charles' first wife, Elvira Condomine (Leslie Mann, 'Motherless Brooklyn'). The jealous Elvira decides to stick around and haunt the couple. Except this supernatural love triangle has a sinister edge: Elvira wants to kill Charles, and even death won't stop her from doing it.

'Blithe Spirit' is directed by Edward Hall ('The Durrells') in his feature-film directorial debut. Piers Ashworth ('Fisherman's Friends'), Meg Leonard ('Finding Your Feet') and Nick Moorcroft ('Burke & Hare') adapt Coward's play for the screen. Joining the star-studded cast are Emilia Fox ('Silent Witness'), Julian Rhind-Tutt ('Stardust'), Aimee-Ffion Edwards ('Peaky Blinders'), James Fleet ('Unforgotten') and Simon Kunz ('Traitors').

'Blithe Spirit' is set for a May 2020 release in the UK.
