Cabrini

Directed by Alejandro Gómez Monteverde and written by Rod Barr, with a collaborative script between the two, 'Cabrini' is an American biographical drama film from the year 2024. The plot immerses itself in the life of the Catholic missionary Francesca Cabrini, played by Cristiana Dell'Anna, who faces obstacles in both her charitable work and her business ventures in New York City. The film sheds light on the sexism and anti-Italian racism that not only Cabrini, but also other residents of the city faced in the late 19th century.

The cast includes David Morse as Archbishop Corrigan, Romana Maggiora Vergano as Vittoria, Federico Ielapi as Paolo, Eugenia Forteza as Sister Umilia, Montserrat Espadalé as Sister Concetta, Giancarlo Giannini as Pope Leo XIII, Virginia Bocelli as Aria, Giacomo Rocchini as Geno, John Lithgow as Mayor Gould, Jeremy Bobb as New York Times reporter Theodore Calloway, Rolando Villazón as DiSalvo, Liam Campora as Enzo, Patch Darragh as Dr. Murphy, and Federico Castelluccio as Senator Bodio.

The executive production is carried out by J. Eustace Wolfington. Principal filming began in Western New York in mid-2021, with locations in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, before moving to Rome later that year.

The film had a private screening at Cabrini University during its alumni weekend on September 24, 2023. It debuted in the United States on March 8, 2024.
