Curveball

Johannes Naber directs this German thriller, 'Curveball', starring Sebastian Blomberg, Franziska Brandmeier, Virginia Kull, Dar Salim, Thorsten Merten, Marcus Calvin and Michael Wittenborn. The film, written by the own Johannes Naber and Oliver Keidel, focuses on an expert in biochemical weapons called Arndt Wolf, who was in Irak looking for the famous mass destruction weapons, but he didn't find anything. Although nobody believes the investigation should go on, because the weapons may not exist at all, everything changes when a political refugee, who they call 'Curveball', brings a new clue. The German government and the secret service of the country decide to put Arndt Wolf in charge to check if, at last, this new lead will help them uncover the weapons. The film is based on the crazy real story about how the German government ended up believing fake leads to look for some weapons that, as of today, they still don't exist. 'Curveball' was presented at the 70 Berlinale.
