      Plot

      With the arrival of the zombies on the planet, the number of humans is reduced to one per 400,000 undead. In an ancient underground government facility a group of people, consisting of military and scientists refuge. Unable to contact other groups of survivors, doctors investigating the possible causes of the phenomenon and how to find a cure to reverse, while doing their best to tame undead. Time passes and doubts begin to arise between group members, which creates tensions and conflicts that hinder coexistence and prevent obtaining advances to facilitate a way out or a way to curb the danger lurking.

      Gifts

      All the extras who portrayed zombies in the climax received for their services: a cap that said "I Played A Zombie In 'Day of the Dead'", a copy of the newspaper from the beginning of the film (the one that says THE DEAD WALK!), and one dollar.

      Director weakness

      On the special edition DVD, director George A. Romero claims this is his favourite film out of the original "dead trilogy".

      Literary reference

      The book Dr. Logan gives to Bub is Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot'. George A. Romero and King have been friends for many years.
