Dracula: A Love Tale

'Dracula: A Love Tale' is a French horror film, but shot in English, written and directed by Luc Besson. It is a new adaptation of the famous character of Dracula from Bram Stoker's eponymous novel. Produced by TF1 and SND, it premieres in France on July 30, 2025, after which it will be released in other markets, reaching North America in 2026.

It is a peculiar project from the French director, starring Caleb Landry Jones. In fact, Besson claims to have no special interest in the character of Dracula, but rather wanted to make a film that showcased Jones's talent, with whom he had worked on 'Dogman'. Thus, the intention is to explore the more romantic side of the vampire's story.

Set in Romania in 1480, it tells the story of Prince Vladimir who, hopelessly in love with his wife Elisabeta, decides to become a vampire - Count Dracula - as he cannot bear her death. Confined for centuries in his gloomy castle, he waits, convinced of the reincarnation of Elisabeta as a pure soul.

In addition to Jones, the cast includes Christoph Waltz, Zoë Bleu as Elisabeta, Matilda de Angelis, Ewens Abid, and David Shields, among others. Much of the filming took place in the northern regions of Finland, due to its snowy landscapes, which the director wanted to use in the film.
