Ezra

Max Brandel is a television writer who decides to make a change in his life to dedicate himself to what he loves most: stand-up comedy, so he leaves writing to make the audience laugh. Although he manages to get on stage, he does not do so with much success as his jokes and gags do not seem to entertain the audience. The now comedian lives with his father Stan, a talented but eccentric chef who sees his son's new life direction as a risky decision. Additionally, Max has an autistic son named Ezra with his ex-wife, Jenna, who now has a new partner. When the former couple has to start making difficult decisions about their nine-year-old son's future, Max decides to kidnap him and take him on a road trip, where they will both form a powerful father-son relationship. During that adventure, Max will finally have the opportunity to become the comedian he has always wanted to be when he gets the chance to work alongside host Jimmy Kimmel.

Directed by Tony Goldwyn, the film stars Bobby Cannavale as Max and William A. Fitzgerald as Ezra, marking his film debut. The cast also includes Robert De Niro as Stan, Rose Byrne as Jenna, and Whoopi Goldberg as Jayne.
